Red Teaming
Red Teaming
Red teaming is a cognitive approach designed to develop new pathways to better decision-making within teams. Red teaming includes techniques that provide a critical analysis of a team’s plans, strategies, and processes. Red teaming provides leaders with the capability of exploring “alternatives in plans, operations, concepts, organizations and capabilities”.
Red Teaming rigorously challenges plans, policies, systems, or assumptions, by adopting an adversarial approach. A red team usually consists of impartial observers to gain new perspectives to effectively countermeasure weaknesses in decision making. Team members use the information obtained and implement the proper corrections in a subsequent step.
Weak Signal Detection
Organizations suffer from blind spots and find it hard to challenge their assumptions or consider adversarial perspectives. In simple terms they try, but fail, to grade their own homework. This is where Red Teaming is needed. Red Teaming helps you identify, manage, and mitigate risks to your most important strategic initiatives and projects.
Red Teaming is a structured approach to subject your strategy or planning to a sustained attack to reveal its vulnerabilities. It forces you to add resilience to your interests, intentions, and planned capabilities. It is a key tool in enabling organizational resilience; the ability to pivot and adapt to external events and triggers; those weak signals you are missing. It will ensure you strengthen your plans, and it will increase your chances of success.
